The Polish-born Opalińska, received her Bachelor’s degree with First Class Honours in jazz piano from Strathclyde University, Glasgow (UK).

Studied with top jazz pianists in Poland: Andrzej Jagodziński i Wojciech Niedziela as well as David Partick in Glasgow. Her arrival in the UK gave way to a highly active period of European and international touring (UK, Germany, Poland, China, Japan), as well as numerous broadcasts on BBC radio and television. Particularly noteworthy among her activities at this time: Opalińska’s quartet opened for ECM artist Tomasz Stańko. Between 2011 – 2018, Mira continued to draw on her grounding in both classical and jazz disciplines, making regular appearances at home and abroad  (Poland, UK, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Nigeria). Among her projects was a probing chamber jazz duo whose 2012 debut recording, Lumière, was released to wide critical acclaim and earned the Jazz Best Seller in Tokyo, Japan. 2016 brought about a return to her classical roots, in particular the rediscovery and further exploration of J.S. Bach, culminating in the 2017 recording and album releasing of that most challenging of keyboard works, “Goldberg Variations”. In 2023 and 2025 Mira was involved in two new recording projects composed by world class Polish drummer Bartłomiej Oleś (Oleś Brothers): “Cat’s Songs – 17 Haiku for Piano” and “Time Diary”. Apart from the five main releases, Mira was also involved as a session musician in many, very diverse projects including musicals, big-bands and chamber ensembles.

In the Autumn of 2021, after twenty years of piano teaching, Mira started studying and working with the Taubman Approach under the guidance of her mentor and Master Teacher, Deren Eryilmaz. This opened the opportunities of study with Edna Golandsky, Mary Moran, Robert Durso and John Bloomfield.

Mira teaches mainly in Glasgow and surrounding areas, but also has a studio in Poland.
