OVERVIEW

At the 2012 Golandsky Institute Summer Symposium at Princeton, participants will attend lectures, master classes, technique clinics, and other presentations by Edna Golandsky and the Institute’s expert faculty, all of whom have undergone years of rigorous training to qualify as teachers of the Taubman Approach. The performers and pedagogues of the Golandsky Institute’s faculty work with pianists, teachers, and musicians of all ages.

In addition to private lessons, supervised practice time, and interactive technique clinics, the 2012 Golandsky Institute Summer Symposium offers a variety of presentations, lectures, and master classes by faculty and special guest presenters.

SCHEDULE

The arrival date is Saturday, July 7.
Participants register from 1:00 - 7:00 PM.
There is an orientation meeting that evening.
The Symposium starts the following morning, Sunday, July 8.
The program will end after the concert on Saturday evening, July 14.
Participants will depart by noon on Sunday morning, July 15.

INTERNATIONAL PIANO FESTIVAL

Concerts on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings will be held at 8:00 PM in the Berlind Theater of the McCarter Theater Center, 91 University Place, Princeton. Concerts on Friday and Saturday evenings will be held in Richardson Auditorium on the Princeton University Campus, 68 Nassau Street, Princeton. All programs subject to change. Ticket sales for the Golandsky Institute International Piano Festival will be handled this year by the McCarter Theater.

Edna Golandsky works with pianists to provide solutions to problem passages in the repertoire.

John Bloomfield

Refining Your Pedal Technique

The fifth in an annual series of lectures devoted to the art of pedaling, this lecture will explore how the pedal is used to produce changes in texture, enhance unison passages, and to help with repeated notes.

Brahms - Rhapsody in G minor, Op. 79

Continuing her presentations of favorites from the piano repertoire, Mary Moran will discuss the Rhapsody in G Minor, Op. 79, No. 2 by Johannes Brahms. She will highlight musical and technical elements of this heroic work using the Taubman Approach.
