NYC Accommodations

New York City is home to several faculty members, certified teachers, and participants in the certification program.  As such, many students come from far away to take lessons.  Students looking for accommodations and practice facilities during their stay in the city should take note of the following resources.

Practice Facilities

Accomodations

  1. www.craigslist.org (choose your US city from here).
    • List “piano” or “grand piano” in the search. It is recommended to both post your own listing (you may need a friend with a US cell to help you, as listings can now only be activated with a code sent to a US cell), and search often. Often, people only list their apartments a month or so in advance.
  2. www.insidedigs.com
  3. www.rentenna.com
  4. www.NYbits.com
  5. www.urbanedgeny.com
  6. www.urbansherpany.com
  7. www.streeteasy.com

Alternatively, if you are just in the US for a short time, you may consider renting an apartment without a piano, then hiring a rehearsal studio while you are here.

“Classical and jazz pianists play the same instrument and are governed by the same physiological principles. The physical freedom offered by the Taubman approach is the perfect companion to the creative freedom pursued by improvising jazz pianists.”

Don Glanden, Professor, The University of the Arts
