One of the many great advantages of being part of the Golandsky Institute is the summer symposium at Princeton. There, one receives private lessons, lectures on the Taubman Approach and its application to musical expression, master classes, and hands-on group lessons on different aspects of this approach that deepen and broaden one’s understanding of the relationship between technique and expression. This aspect of the Taubman Approach is infinitely profound and offers the prospect of infinite improvement and artistic development. As a pianist with small hands, I first came to my Taubman studies to get help with octave and chord playing. However, I was immediately impressed and convinced by the logic and ease of the total approach, and decided to retrain. It has been a miracle to me to see my speed, accuracy, and facility improve exponentially while at the same time, my control of tone, phrasing, shaping, and expression set free as never before.I teach professional, college, and beginning and intermediate levels, and I continue to be amazed when I see how much faster my students develop using the Taubman Approach.
