Benjamin Burrell began studying the piano when he was four years old.  He was soon performing at his school and his church and began playing professionally as a young teen when his church hired him to play for church services. He graduated magna cum laude from Emory University with a Bachelor of Music degree and earned his Master’s degree in Organ and Church Music from Northwestern University’s School of Music in Evanston, Illinois.  Highly regarded as a church musician, choral conductor and organist, he has served as director of music for churches in Georgia, Illinois and the greater Boston area.

Hailed as ‘a true poet’, ‘so musical that it’s uncanny’, Mr. Burrell’s first love is for the piano.  He has performed solo piano recitals and chamber music in Europe, Asia and throughout the United States.  The concert he gave as part of the Sunday Classical Salon Series in Cambridge, Massachusetts, was selected by The Boston Globe as a “Sunday Best”.  His repertoire spans a wide range of music, including the Baroque, Classical and Romantic periods and works by contemporary composers. For the 2008 season, Mr. Burrell will be performing in New England, France and the southeast US. He has studied with Lenore Engdahl, Leonard Shure and Anthony di Bonaventura and continues to work with Edna Golandsky in New York City.
